Project Brief
The Pirate Adventures of Cortez project involves a significant transition in ownership, prompting the imperative need for a website overhaul. The existing website, stagnant for years, is undergoing a transformation to align with the dynamic changes in ownership. Collaborating with FareHarbor, the client has chosen WordPress as the platform for their revamped web presence.
As a UX designer, my role encompasses comprehensive user research to discern and address the specific needs of the target audience. The design process involves leveraging the strengths of the current design while implementing enhancements to ensure that the website facilitates seamless booking and provides easily accessible information about the thrilling Pirate Adventures of Cortez. The focus is on creating an intuitive and engaging user experience that aligns with the brand's pirate theme and fosters increased interaction and bookings.
Existing Site Heuristics
Upon reviewing the current website, inconsistencies were identified in the placement and functionality of buttons. Moreover, certain buttons directed users to the same destination, while others diverged toward different endpoints.
Acknowledging the need for improvement, heuristic evaluation highlighted disorganized information on the homepage. Optimizing the layout aims to enhance navigation efficiency, fostering increased user engagement.

It's imperative to my client that I stay within the parameters of the original site's capabilities while also prioritizing SEO and streamlining content to minimize walls of text. This ensures a user-friendly experience without compromising our search visibility.
